What it is
We are an NDIS Registered Specialist Behaviour Support Provider (Provider ID 4053372503) delivering Positive Behaviour Support for children, young people and adults. Our Practitioners work collaboratively with individuals, families, carers and support teams to understand behaviours of concern, identify contributing factors and develop practical, evidence-informed strategies that improve safety, wellbeing and quality of life.
Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) is a structured, evidence-based way of understanding why a person does what they do, and then changing the environment, the skills and the supports around them so that behaviours of concern become unnecessary. We start from one belief: behaviour is communication.
Our Practitioners are assessed as suitable by the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission and work with participants who are NDIA-managed, plan-managed and self-managed. Based in Canberra, we provide face-to-face services across the ACT and surrounding NSW, and telehealth/online services Australia-wide.
- NDIS participants and their families
- Support coordinators and plan managers
- Supported independent living and group home providers
- Schools, allied health and care teams
Who it's for
We support children, young people and adults with a wide range of needs, including autism, intellectual disability, ADHD, psychosocial disability, acquired brain injury and trauma-related behaviours. Many of the people we work with have been described as "complex" or "high risk" by other services. We welcome those referrals.
You can refer if you are:
- A parent, carer or family member
- A support coordinator, plan manager or local area coordinator
- A supported accommodation, respite or day program provider
- A school, GP, psychologist or other clinician
- An adult participant referring yourself
What it looks like in practice
Every engagement follows a clear, transparent process. You will always know what stage we are at and what happens next.
- Intake and consent. We confirm funding, gather consent and agree on who is in the person's circle of support.
- Functional Behaviour Assessment. We observe, interview, review records and collect data to understand the purpose each behaviour serves.
- Interim plan (where needed). If there is immediate risk, or restrictive practices are in use, we prepare an interim plan within the NDIS Commission's timeframes.
- Comprehensive Behaviour Support Plan. A practical, plain-English plan covering prevention, skill teaching, environmental changes, response strategies and, where relevant, the safe reduction of restrictive practices.
- Implementation and training. We train families, support workers and teachers to use the plan with confidence. This is where change actually happens.
- Review. We track outcomes against the plan, adjust strategies and report on progress.
Sessions take place wherever the person lives their life: at home, in supported accommodation, at school, at work, in the community, or by telehealth.
How to engage or refer
The quickest way to start is the individual and family referral form. You can also call us on (02) 6257 7222 or email admin@circlesofsupportplus.com.au. If you are a provider or organisation referring several participants, use the organisation enquiry form.
When you refer, it helps to have: the participant's NDIS number and plan dates, current plan management arrangements, and a short description of what is happening and who is involved. Do not worry if you are missing something. We will guide you through it.
Outcomes
Good behaviour support should make life easier, safer and more dignified for the person and everyone around them. Typical outcomes include:
- Fewer and less intense behaviours of concern
- Reduced or eliminated restrictive practices, with the NDIS Commission reporting handled for you
- New communication, coping and daily living skills
- A support team that feels confident rather than reactive
- Stable placements at home, at school and in accommodation
- Clear, evidence-based reporting for plan reviews
Common questions
Do you work with restrictive practices?
Yes. Where a regulated restrictive practice is in use or being considered, we develop the required behaviour support plan, lodge it with the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission, and work with the implementing provider on authorisation and reduction.
How long does it take to get a plan?
An interim plan is generally delivered within one month of engagement and a comprehensive plan within six months, in line with NDIS Commission requirements. Urgent situations are prioritised.
Do you provide telehealth?
Yes. Most assessments include in-person observation, but reviews, training and consultation can be delivered by video where that suits the person and their team.
